Showdown in Seattle, shot and edited on location in downtown Seattle during the World Trade Organization (WTO) protests in 1999, provides a day-by-day, street-level, non-corporate perspective on the events of that historic week. With a global perspective and incredible footage of police repression, Showdown is an indictment of police abuse and the anti-democratic nature of the WTO, but most significantly, Showdown celebrates the popular resistance and direct democracy at work in the streets of Seattle.
For many activists, this event sparked the past 6 years of resistance to corporate domination. The showing precedes what will be a couple of weeks of autonomous activities surrounding the arrival of the G-8 conference in Washington, DC. For more about the G-8, check out http://www.globalizethis.org
